Mission
Our goal is to foster and support children of the Permian Basin by providing funds to the organizations that serve children who are victims of abuse, neglect or poverty and are considered at-risk within the community. As an all­ volunteer organization, we also strive to provide individuals and corporations the opportunity to help children of
all ages within the community. By providing necessities,' financial support and opportunities, Oil Patch Kids will continue changing lives and giving hope to the youth of our community.
History
Oil Patch Kids is part of a heritage that is uniquely West Texas; a heritage that built on compassion, generosity, and community fellowship. Thanks to the generous West Texas spirit and the investments of our supporters, corporations and volunteers, thousands of young lives have been forever changed.
Since its founding in 1994, Oil Patch Kids has raised just over $2 million to support at-risk children right here in the Permian Basin. Some of the children served have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect, while others are at -risk and may come from single parent and low-income families. Oil Patch Kids provides these children with necessities and opportunities to give them hope and a chance for change. These opportunities would not be made possible without the unwavering support of the local oil and gas community.
Oil Patch Kids was originally founded to support foster children and other children served by CPS in the Permian Basin. The foster children of the Permian Basin remain our focus; however, we have been so incredibly blessed as the tournament has grown over the years, we are able to provide for their needs as well as donate to other organizations in the Permian Basin that support children at risk. We currently have donated to over forty different organizations that serve children in some capacity. We know that organizations that serve children are always looking for ways to increase their ability to serve children and we are excited to be able to be a small part of their efforts.
How We Raise Funds
Oil Patch Kids raises funds to support foster children and other organizations through two annual fundraisers. We have our Oil Patch Kids Golf Tournament in July and a Casino Night in February. In 2021 and beyond, we are partnering with Shale Energy Resources as our OPK Golf Tourney and Casino Night Title Sponsor. For their annual 2021 Clay Shoot and Chili Cook-off and concert in November, we will receive additional financial support as well. Once we have held all events, we are then able to distribute the funds to the during our Annual Check Presentation held in the fall.
